Capital Budget Estimates of MDAs Must Align With the State's 30Years Development Plan; Oyebanji Directs.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has directed ministries, departments and agencies to fashion the 2023 capital estimates with the 30 years long term development plan instituted by the state government.

The Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji gave the directive at the annual budget negotiation and envelope sharing meeting organised by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.

Oyebanji, who was represented by the Head of Service, Barrister Bamidele Agbede said that his administration was passionate about development, adding that participatory and inclusive budgeting is an integral framework through which progressive development could be attained.

The Governor, while speaking on the importance of the meeting, stressed that it was a veritable forum for the leadership of MDAs to deliberate and negotiate budget envilopes amicably among themselves and to also afford government institutions the opportunity to review their priority projects and programmes for the 2023 fiscal year in line with the development plan of the state, based on the 6-point agenda of his administration.

According to the governor, government was not unmindful of the current global economic instability as it affected the state economy which has necessitated his administration to be conservative and more conscious in the allocation of budget envilopes to MDAs.

He charged all MDAs to focus more on how to improve on their revenue generation drive to meet the increasing budgetary expenditure proposals.

In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Olusesan Alabi said the meeting was aimed at producing a realistic and sustainable fiscal estimates for year 2023.

Mr Alabi commended the immediate past government for instituting and sustaining various fiscal reforms towards improving accountability and transparency in the transactions of the state government, saying further that the incumbent governor is more determined to sustain and improve on the already established legacies.
