EKSG reiterates commitment towards cultural promotion

The Government of Ekiti State has reaffirmed it's commitment towards
the development of cultural heritage.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Art Culture and Tourism, Mr
Aderemi Dele Ogunsemoyin, emphasized on anticipation towards cultural
promotion by the state government during the celebration of OLOKUN
festival in Erijiyan-Ekiti, held at the king's palace.

The PS represented by the Director of culture, Mr. Abdul Babalola,
explained the position and effort of the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji led
administration to the entire inhabitants of the community, as regards
to the cultural development across the State.

Also said, as a team, representating Ekiti state government in this
event, our aim is to corroborate the people of the town to promote
their festival even across the globe. Even said, the government of
Abayomi Oyebanji is on his efforts to protect all the Tourist
locations and promote any cultural activity being shown case by any
community.
Ogunsemoyin, appreciated the community for exposing the beauty of our
dear culture and also thanks the Acting chairman of Ekameta LCDA, Hon.
Ebenezer Adekunle Adebusuyi, and the National President Erijiyan
development union, Otunba Rotimi Oluwatayo, for tremendous effort made
by them to attaine the success of the festival.

The PS used the medium to advise the remaining LGA and LCDA to key
into cultural exposition as to promote the Economy and also popularize
the beauty of the cultural heritage.

In his reaction, the traditional ruler, Oba. Adegoroye Oludare
Omosebi, thanks the government of Abayomi Oyebanji led Administration
for his endless effort to promote the Culture and Tourism to the
International market

Oba Adegoroye explained that OLOKUN festival was given to the
community by the God through the Oracle and it's used to mark the
yearly calendar of the community. He described the festival as medium
of caution the evil doer, and time to show love and care to each
other.

The traditional ruler, said Erin's river which happened to be the
founder of the town is significant to the celebration of OLOKUN, echo
that the river is naturally medicinal that it's capable to cure any
hilliness regardless of it's nature which some of the participants
attested to.

Oba Adegoroye made a Clarion call to all indigene at home and abroad
to join hands in love to develop the community to the greater heights.
Also implored them to always remember their source and cultural value
as to embrace the celebration of the festival.

 The Monarch described Ekameta as Ekiti State cultural hub and call on
the Ekiti State government to prioritize the development of the Zone
in order to meet up with international standard.

The Olokun festival in Erijiyan Ekiti has it's own uniqueness beyond
doubt, where the king appears in seven different attire and different
crown at a moment. The notable indigene of Erijiyan Ekiti appears in
different uniform in accordance with the age group. It is an occasion
where people felicitate and congratulate each other for witness the
new year according to their traditional calendar.
