EKITI GOVT. ASSURES RESIDENTS OF ACCESS TO IMPROVED AND SUSTAINABLEWATER SUPPLY, SANITATION AND HYGIENE

By Funke OYERINDE Ekiti State Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof Mobolaji Aluko has assured Ekiti people of access to improved and sustainable water supply, sanitation and hygiene.  Prof. Aluko who gave the assurance in Ado-Ekiti while receiving a Federal Program Implementation Unit team on a technical support mission to the State, said that the State Government was already tackling the issue of erratic supply of electricity to the State which is a major factor in ensuring satisfactory provision of water. He noted that electricity power supply is a key determinant of the success or failure of efforts to provide potable water to the people. By Wale Obelewaji The Arinjale of Ise-Ekiti, HRM Oba(Dr) Adetunji David Ajayi has commended the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for his laudable Programmes especially health intervention of Basic Health Care Provision Fund and Ulerawa programmes across the state.  Oba Ajayi gave the commendation at his palace in Ise-Ekiti during a sensitisation and health outreach Programme organized by the Ekiti State Health Insurance Scheme to expand and increase citizen's access to both Programmes in the state.  The traditional ruler who was represented by Chief Benjamin Ojo called on his subjects to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by the programmes to live a healthy living, with a prayer for the success of the Governor Biodun Oyebanji led Administration. In his remarks, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr Oyebanji Filani said that the twin Programmes of BHCPF and Ulerawa provided free healthcare services at 177 Public Health Centres across the state.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has rolled out palliatives to soften the impact of removal of fuel subsidy to residents including students, workers and pensioners. The Chairman of the State Palliatives Committee and Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akin Oyebode, who said a decision like fuel subsidy removal would naturally come with short term pains, said the palliatives would stand in the gap. Oyebode spoke in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Wednesday while giving report of the outcome of the committee meetings, which he said the governor had approved for immediate implementation. Membership of the committee comprised government representatives and other stakeholders including the organised labour. NIDCOM Confers Diaspora Merit Awards on Prof Mobolaji Aluko and Twenty-Four Others.

By Yetunde OYERINDE The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has conferred the National Diaspora Merit Award 2023 on erudite scholar and former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Professor Mobolaji Aluko. Others include Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of WTO, Dr. Akinwujmi Adesina of AfDB, and Mrs. Amina Mohammed of the World Bank. Presenting the award at Aso Villa in Abuja on Wednesday July 26, 2023, during the celebration of the 17th Annual National Diaspora Day 2023 and Merit Awards, the Chairman/CEO of NIDCOM, Hon. (Dr) Abike Dabiri-Erewa explained that the award was in recognition of the don's selfless service and contribution to the field of education/leadership and to appreciate his unflinching love and contribution to national development.
