Ekiti State NYCN Chair has called on the Government at various levels to set up Monitoring Team to be monitoring the selection processes for Youth employment Policies

The Leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter, on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 met with the delegation of the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), an International Organization, based in Nairobi, Kenya. 

The delegation, led by the Principal Investigator/Team, Dr. Oluwasola Owoju  was welcomed at the State Secretariat of the Youth Council in Ado-Ekiti, the State Capital. 
The deliberations, was centered on the Empirical Review of Youth Employment Programmes/Policies in Nigeria under the "What works for Youth Employment in Africa" Initiative was aimed to know the areas at which the Federal and State Government have been able to address the issues of employment for the Youths, and to discuss the Expectations of the Nigerian Youths from the Government. 

As one of the key stakeholders on issues related to Youth employment and Youth Development in the State, the Chairman of the Council, Amb. James Oluwasegun Bankole was able to address issues without sentiment. 

In his address, Amb. James Bankole appreciated the State and the Federal Government for the Initiatives they have been able to put in place to address issues of unemployment among the Youths in Ekiti State and Nigeria. 
He called on the State and Federal Government to consider setting up a Monitoring Team to be monitoring the selection processes of 'would be' beneficiaries of whatever Projects the Government will be rolling out for the Youths. 

"The Leadership of the Youth bodies should be carried along in the selection process, to avoid the Policies/Projects been politicized" Amb. Bankole added. 

Speaking on behalf of the Team, The Director of PEP in Ekiti State, Mr. Wale Omole appreciated the Leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter for addressing issues without sentiment. He assured the Council of collaborative efforts to making sure that the Youths in Ekiti State get what belongs to them. 

Other Youth Officers at the meeting were Comrade John Kayode Ayodele, Hon. Bamisaye Roy and Comrade Daramola Busayo.
